Equipment

  • 1 Oven Preheat to 375°F (190°C) for baking.
  • 1 Deep pan For frying if preferred.
  • 1 Mixing bowl For combining filling ingredients.

Ingredients

Jalapeño Peppers

  • 12 pieces fresh jalapeño peppers Choose firm, vibrant ones for the best flavor.

Cheese Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese Softened for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese For a rich taste.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder To elevate the flavor.

Topping

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs For that satisfying crunch.
  • Optional tofu or dairy-free cheese For a vegetarian version.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or, if you prefer frying, heat oil in a deep pan.

Jalapeño Preparation

  • Slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and membranes for a milder flavor, or leave some for extra heat!

Filling Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 8 oz of softened cream cheese, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and 1 tsp of garlic powder. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Stuffing

  • Generously fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture. Ensure they are well-packed for maximum flavor.

Coating

  • If baking, sprinkle ½ cup of breadcrumbs on top of the stuffed jalapeños for a crunchy texture.

Cooking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Alternatively, fry them until crispy and golden, which usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
