Meat Mixture

  • 1 pound ground beef Choose lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Use plain or seasoned breadcrumbs.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped Fresh onions bring sweetness.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic enhances the dish.

Gravy Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce Adds depth to the flavor.
  • 1 cup beef broth Opt for low-sodium to control salt levels.
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced Fresh mushrooms are ideal.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Adds richness to the gravy.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients: ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, mushrooms, and heavy cream.

Making Patties

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently and form into oval-shaped patties.

Browning Patties

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with oil. Brown the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side.

Setting Aside

  • Transfer the patties to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.

Sautéing Mushrooms

  • In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and sautĂ© for about 5 minutes until golden brown.

Making Gravy

  • Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms, stir, and gradually pour in beef broth while stirring continuously. Bring to a simmer and thicken for 3-4 minutes.

Adding Cream

  • Stir in heavy cream and season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer longer for a thicker gravy if desired.

Combining Patties and Gravy

  • Return the patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and let simmer for another 5 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve hot with mashed potatoes or green beans.
