Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef Or a hearty beef substitute like seitan or mushrooms.
  • 1 medium onion Chopped.
  • 1 each bell pepper Diced.
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning For flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • 8 ounces provolone cheese Shredded.

Dough

  • 1 package pizza dough Store-bought or homemade.

Instructions
 

Prepare the Filling

  • Start by heating a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced bell peppers and onions, cooking them until they are soft and slightly caramelized, which should take about 5-7 minutes.

Add the Beef

  • Incorporate your choice of thinly sliced beef or a beef substitute. Season with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Mix in the Cheese

  • Remove the skillet from heat and fold in shredded provolone cheese, allowing it to melt slightly from the residual heat.

Roll Out the Dough

  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a rectangle, approximately 12x16 inches.

Assemble the Stromboli

  • Spread the filling evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving about an inch of space around the edges.

Roll the Dough

  • Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough over the filling, tucking it in as you go. Pinch the edges to seal.

Prepare for Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the rolled stromboli seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the top with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

Bake the Stromboli

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.

Cool and Slice

  • Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes. Use a sharp knife to cut it into generous pieces.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve warm, perhaps with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
