Instructions

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

  • Collect fresh tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, garlic, eggs, olive oil, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Don’t forget some fresh herbs for garnish!

Step 2: Sauté the Veggies

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and bell peppers. SautĂ© until soft and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3: Add Garlic and Spices

  • Stir in minced garlic, cumin, and paprika. Cook for another minute until the spices release their aroma. Your kitchen will smell amazing!

Step 4: Create the Tomato Base

  • Add diced tomatoes to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

Step 5: Make Wells for the Eggs

  • Using a spoon, create small wells in the tomato mixture. This is where the eggs will go, so make them cozy!

Step 6: Crack in the Eggs

  • Carefully crack an egg into each well. Cover the skillet and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the eggs are set to your liking.

Step 7: Garnish and Serve

  • Sprinkle fresh herbs on top for a pop of color. Serve hot with crusty bread for dipping. Enjoy your delightful Shakshuka!
